RED SANDS RADIO - THE RSL 1288 KHZ JULY 2007
A REPORT BY DAVE BEDFORD FOR THE WIRELESS WAFFLE WEBSITE

REDSANDS TODAY/REDSANDS IN THE SIXTIES
I had a really good day on the Fort, it was especially good to meet Robin Adcroft (Banks) for the first time as RNI is my favourite 70's offshore station. It was also good to chat at length with Kevin Turner who I haven't heard on the radio in years. I didn't realise until late on that Dick Palmer was also on our trip, he is the guy on the tender on the enclosed photo, Bob did have a brief chat on air with him, but we were only on board for about 2 hrs which flew by, I was very apprehensive about climbing up inside the fort, but it wasn't as bad as I imagined, it didn't help watching Dangerman recently who came up on a rope.
If you have Keith Skues book there are some fascinating bits on red sands regarding life on board.
I took some interesting pictures which are displayed as thumbnails below this article, the 1010300 is the film crew from Meridian, the programme is supposed to be on around 1st August but I haven't seen anything listed , perhaps you will keep an eye out next week, as im going to be on holiday on the Isle Wight, in Meridians area, but may not have a lot of time to watch tv.
One problem they appeared to have was lack of live staff it was mainly Bob LeRoi/Kevin Turner only on board for the first 6 days, the rest of the programming was prerecorded hopefully if they can do another one they can get a few more volunteers, it would be a great adventure for a few days but not a week I suspect.
