Great for Oldies is Fun 92.7 from the USA http://www.fun927.com/live/high.html live and working 15/4/08
Listened to the Bobby Knight Show at 10pm GMT Show on 1400 -1900 US Time
WAFN-FM Fun 92.7 located in Arab, Alabama serving North Alabama including Huntsville, Guntersville, Fort Payne, Madison, Scottsboro, Cullman and Lacys Springs. Fun 92.7 is the exclusive North Alabama FM home of University of Alabama Football, University of Alabama Basketball, Tennessee Titans and Arab High School Football. Some interesting adverts as well. The traffic reports are almost unreal, the way they refer to accidents etc! Fun 7 in a row. Sixties Seventies and other classics. Santana, Dionne Warwick, Monkees and many more hits played. Good quality output - hi and lo bandwidth streams offered (review 14/4/08)

KBEAR104 - Alaska's Hot Country - Audio Quality on line low quailty. A country station but the modern faster stuff. It started off a the top of hour after news with 12 records in a row. Presenter quick speaking and mentioned a "Bearathon". The records did not seem to last long - perhaps that is how they fit in 12 records in a row. The country music did not keep me locked to the dial! More of a radio programme than WAFN were putting on with presenter presence. I caught a new version of the Eagles Take it Easy, or was the poor streaming making it sound different? The pace of this station is fast. If you look at the pictures that change in the player, you will see the artists that appear on the station. Listened at around 22:00 hrs GMT

I did not find many stations in the state of Alaska that permitted on line listening. There has been a crack down on stations playing music without payment, also adverts. Thankfully some are still open to the world. There can however never be, or will be, any substitute for taking a radio with you to a foreign land and listening to the stations live on air.
KOOL 97.3 in Alaska plays Oldies. They pop up in Media Player on my pc http://www.kool973.com/ live and working 16/4/08. Not bad streaming but still a typical internet sound as opposed to good quality. Byrds - Turn Turn, a Chicago song called "Super and Free?" one I had never heard before. I had to endure the worn out Don McClean with American Pie Song! By the end I was singing along so not so bad. The day the music died! It has come back full time now in the 21st century. DJ called "Super Dave" I thought he said super d**k, must have been the dialect. Advert to prevent forest fires, Am Autism advert, promo for autismspeaks.org. Advert on debt. A good seven up advert like they had in the sixities as well. A shop selling "Just Squid" Weather. Jingles - Bob Seeger and Bullet Band. Quite a well presented station with a good presenter. Listened at around 22:30 UK time. (they say
Announcer introduces most tunes and "sells" the station and music.

Cool 96 FM Bahamas A station which plays in Media Player on my pc http://www.cool96fm.com/?s=local Slightly better quality than the last two stations reviewed but still streaming quality. An announcer with a lovely "fruity" voice. From their website:
In August 1995, Cay Walter Gottlieb’s dream of opening Grand Bahama’s first private radio station was realized when Cool 96 began to broadcast on 96.1 on the FM dial. Since then, we have managed to maintain the reputation of being community-minded, offering a diverse mix of music and programmes presented by a team of talented and enthusiastic on-air talent! The station has always attempted to bring listeners quality broadcasting and we are continuing to get better!
Cool 96 features Bahamian, Caribbean, Oldies, R&B, Blues, Jazz, Top 40, Latin, Rock, Country, and Gospel. We’d like to think of it as a ‘fresh’ alternative to Adult Contemporary (AC).
Listened to at 19:45 GMT TIME Overall the station is ok but rather too laid back for me. Obviously it accurately matches its name!
