I have decided to halt additions to this site and take the bold step of entering the world of blogging.  It will be much easier for me to update and allow me time to undertake other projects.  The new blog will incorporate all that is covered here, plus Music Television Gardening Decorating and much more, in fact anything that I feel like discussing with the world wide web.  I hope you will join me at http://wireless-waffle.blogspot.com/ Thank you for supporting me through the ten years we have been online, and trust you may find my blog of some interest. It will be comment and information but unfortunately the news postings will stop

Radio is an old medium, but it continues to entertain generations of different people throughout the world.  It reaches us via the airwaves and enters our body via one of the magic human senses - hearing.  I hope that this site will encourage its visitors to tune into their local or national stations, and perhaps even to broadcasters around the world on shortwave or wi fi radio.

A new website to me is http://www.radiofail.tk/ this has on air radio mistakes, or as you may know them bloopers. The webmaster there invites you to send in your clips of things you have heard on air.

Apologies to the other Wireless Waffle technical site - I have a link to this excellent site on the front page of this site. Unfortunately a gremlin shot into my index page when editing it which pointed back to this site!  I think that has been rectified now.

BBC Radio 5 Live's Sport Extra station went silent during live commentary of West Ham v Fulham at the weekend as commentator Nigel Adderly collapsed on-air.

The incident was noted on various internet message boards, saying they heard groaning, crowd noises and someone pleading for help.

It happened around 4:30pm on Sunday afternoon. Nigel was treated by St John's Ambulance medics at the football ground before being taken to hospital.

BBC Radio 5 Live later announced on the 606 phone-in, that the 37 year old had suffered a bad turn but was recovering.

West Berkshire's Kick FM has rebranded as Newbury Sound under the new ownership of Andover Sound.

The new station launched at 7am today on 105.6 and 107.4 FM with Queen's Don't Stop Me Now. Presenters include Chris Wright, Steve Randall and Stuart McGinley.

Neighbouring Andover Sound Limited bought the station from Tindle Radio two months ago and is now controlled by Ian Axton, although Tindle Radio still has a 20 per cent holding.

Ian Axton is a former Managing Director of Spire FM in Salisbury and last year he launched North West Hampshire's Andover Sound.

He told RadioToday.co.uk: ‘We’ve assembled a fantastic team to launch Newbury Sound. We’re all passionate about high quality local radio that makes a real connection with listeners.“

Newbury MP Richard Benyon appeared on air for the launch. He said “there are so many exciting developments in and around Newbury at the moment, it’s great to have a new local radio station that’s at the heart of things, communicating with people and playing great music, it’s a fantastic day for us.”

Kick FM launched in 2000 and was most recently fully owned by Tindle Radio

BBC Radio 5 Live has apologied after a few choice words about the American jazz musician and composer Stanley Clarke were broadcasting during Morning Report.

Instead of a clip from Wigan Athletic's manager, listeners heard a yet un-named voice explaining what he thought of Stanley Clarke.

The incident happened on Saturday morning at 5:42am during the sports round up.

The BBC said: “We apologise that an inappropriate piece of audio material was broadcast on Radio 5 Live this morning and for any offence caused to our listeners.”
